3870 - Cannot Overclock

I've had a 3870 for a while now, and since I've had it, i've not been able to oveclock it at all. It's a Triplex version.

If I try via CCC, the Auto overclock just opens the window but never actually does anything.
When I was on XP (On Vista now, and can't run it) if I tried via atitool or Rivatuner, the system would just lock up and then reboot.

Is overclocking somehow disabled on this card? Or am I missing something?

That tool's built for the 48**s though, will it even work on a 3870?

Ok I tried that program, it runs okay, but when I set the clocks it just reverts them back to whatever they were before I clicked.

chances are its on the limits onf the gpu voltage. have you got a multi meter?
