I am replacing my GPX card and am looking at a low/mid range card to replace my 7900GS.

I have seen the Sapphire range of the 3870 for £100+ VAT

Is there a better card bang for buck value if so recomendations would be welcome

Thanks for fast replys guys. Why the difference in price RealDeal??

Im hoping the old card will be covered by warranty but its 17 months old. If not looks like getting one of the

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Looks good and the same price I paid for my 7900. Will I see a masive performance increase?

1 more thing what a bout Nvidia? owt worth while?

If you know of the 8800GTX performance level then just know that the 4850 is faster :D. I think it's roughly about 3 times faster than your current card (7900GS) maybe more.

So would the Sapphire range of the 3870 be a increase over my old card? Just thinking about funds and I might be getting one of a friend for £60...

If you can pick it up for £60 then that's a great deal, if you were buying new then the only answer is 4850. :)

The 3870 would be a very nice upgrade over a 7900GS, the 4850 is just a large performance step higher though.

Depending on brand it is still probably covered by a manufacturer warranty, as most cards come with 3 years. Only the real budget brands that offer one year.

I would really stretch for the 4850, it's an absolutely fantastic card, probably best value since the 8800GT and an awesome comeback for ATI :)

If you can get a 3870 for £60 snap it up, a massive improvement over a 7900gs and not miles behind a 4850

Buying a new 3870 at current price is not wise though

+1. The 4850 is a fantastic card, but a 3870 for £60 is an utter bargain :)
