My 3870 X2's been on a weird one of late. Recently installed the 8.10 drivers and have been playing Farcry 2 and Fallout 3. I've never had any problems with the card before (It's only a few months old) but have recently been experiencing red dot artifacting in and out of these games. I understand that red dots are usually a GPU issue, often associated with heat or lack of power. However, my card runs cool (idles at 40-45 and never really tops 60 under max load) and I have a Corsair HX 620W PSU, so power shouldn't be a problem.
I run Farcry 2 pretty much maxed-out and the artifacting is minor to the point of being hard to notice. In fallout 3 it seems to be intermitant but more severe. When I restart my computer after playing one of these games the artifacting continues into windows but dissappears after a short while... This would seem to be synonymous with overheating but the damn thing is reporting as cool.
Are there any known issues of this nature with the 8.10 drivers and is it worth trying the hotfix? I'll be ****** off if my card's on its way out already. Haven't even tried overclocking it yet either so can't blame my self either.
