Does anyone know if the 3870 X2 will fit in a mATX case?

Ive seen theres shorter versions coming out but does that mean the current ones wont fit?

It's pretty big. I doubt it will fit.

Here is a size comparison with some other cards -

Ahh great, thanks guys, I looked at the SG03 a few days ago, looks nice.

Just reading a review which states in supports dual graphics cards, might be pushing it, but any cooling issues etc aside, would it fit 2 X2's? Or is it more likely to be 2 single slot cards?

It fits, but touches the fan you have in the front of the case.

Will fit in a Thermaltake Lanbox Lite so will prob fit in the other 2 Lanbox versions too.

Thats without the hard drive caddy and don't think it will go anywhere near the front of the case.

I have an 8800 GTS in my Lanbox Lite and could keep the hard drive caddy in if i chose too but I don't as only use 1 hd and like the area open for good airflow.

In fact there is about another 6 inches of space free after the 8800GTS finishes.

Aha I see you there :D looks a similar spec to what im considering, what heatsink you got on your Q6600? I have a spare Scythe Ninja but im guessing its not gonna fit..

@ Scougar - I didnt realise the shorter cards were already out?

Not a chance mate, you're really limited in what you can fit in there - you only have a limited clearance height to play with. I use the Zalman CNPS8000 but I don't rate it at all as a cooler. My idle temps are up in the 50's with good front case cooling (two 120mm Yates at 12V).

A lot of people recommend the NT06 - it's a passive cooler but uses the PSU fan to help keep it cool. From what i've seen there's been a lot of success with it, even when clocking a quad.

Thinking of picking one up myself, as my watercooling project failed miserably.
