3870 X2 in crossfire?

The Good News is the beta driver has been released to a few review websites out there and that the Public driver is due for release in March :D
 
I would not recomend Crossfire on a 16x\4x solution motherboard. It will work, but the limited bandwidth of the second slot will harm the overall benefits. Remember as well that the 4x slot is attached to the Southbridge, and not the Northbridge, introducing further delay over the bus communication.

Back in the day I ran a pair of X1900GTs in software crossfire, and the 4x slot did hamper my benchmark results but upto 20% over the same setup on i975 chipset (which runs dual 8x/8x slots direct from Northbridge).

Now I appreciate we have these funky connectors now so the situation may have improved somewhat....
 
Google it up, there may be a site out there hat has done a review of corssfire on P965 or P35 based motherboards.

I ran the 16x\4x Crossfire on the now ancient x955 chipset :D
