Hi all,
I considering getting an 3870 x2 but concerned that it wont fit in my coolermaster Centurion 5 case. I currently have an 6800GS extreme and it looks like there is about 4 inches spare.

Any idea how much longer the 3870 x2 or indeed an 8800GTX is in comparison to my 6800GS?

Also, given that I use 1680 x 1050 res do I need a 1Gb 3870 x2 or would an 8800GT suffice? I dont mind spending a little extra if it future proofs my purchase a little longer but also dont want to spend money un-necessarily!

thanks for that. I think it might be a bit tight.
U reckon the 8800gts g92 will play new games at 1680x1050 pretty smoothly?

it should handle everything, i have the card my self. brilliant card

and if you overclock it a bit it will even be better

edit: it can handle crysis at that rez on high so i guess it will handle other games much better

GTS should be fine, anything 1920x1440 and above with AA/AF on and that is where the GTX is able to stretch its legs and move ahead.

I went for the X2 mainly cos i liked the concept and am a fan of ATi, and i 'only' run at 1650x1080 on a 22" Hanns-G.

as a matter of interest, how much better is the GTS G92 version than the original GT. Ive been offered this:
BFG 8800 GT 512 OC edition for £120..

I got a 3870x2 to fit in a Lian-Li 60 series case so if it will fit in that it will fit in moset cases.

Yeah length of card was my concern as well i have a thermaltake tsunami dream and not a lot of room between my 7800gtx and hd cage lol. I feel a pair of tin snips will be needed when i buy a nice new X2 be it 387 or 487 :D.

If you don't want to spend a lot then £120 for a BFG OC GT is quite a good deal.

GTS is a about 5-10FPS faster than a stock GT in most games for £45 extra. Lots of reviews available on google.
