10 mins ago my computer shut down randomly

10 mins ago my computer shut down randomly,
its probably heat related. But the fan is still not as loud as when i first turn on before post, meaning that it was not running 100%, what controls gpu fan speed.

When i had my 3870 X2 the fan profile just didnt work properly and i was forced to make my own profile using rivatuner to get the fan to speed up.

Its a known issue with these cards and its worth checking this out yourself

Some questions for you then

1. Can you set rivertuner to set fan speeds depending on the temp, if so, what settings
2. Does Rivertuner need to be open.
3. How do i use and install rivertuner. In the past i have had a driver issue or something.

1.

I used these settings

Fan speed -Temp

25 < 49c
29 > 49c
29 < 65c
34 > 65c
34 < 75c
40 > 75c
40 < 90c
51 > 91c

Although i kept tweaking them so im not sure if they were final but you get the idea

2. Yes

3. I had never used it before so I just googled anything i wasnt sure off ;)

I would have thought that the screen turning off is normally a voltage issue?

But I suppose the resistance of the capacitors(?) controlling the voltage would decrease with increased temperature leading to a drop in voltage.

U mean resistors? Increased temp = increased resistance ;) meaning lower current for selected voltage.

As for fan control I have no idea but you could have just edited your post instead of posting three new ones :)

How can I use Rivatuner to make a fan speed profile

How can I use Rivatuner to make a fan speed profile.

I went to low level system tweaks / fan

But cant see an option to change the automatic fan speed control rule???

Now its crashing after only 5 mins use,

I restart and it crashed while still on on desktop. This is crazy?

Im thinking of getting a refund.

It did this when i had fan set at 55% constant
