3870x2 advice on upgrading

Ok I have had the 3870x2 since release been happy with it into I just upgraded my monitor native res is 1900x1280 24inch I mainly play FPS games and I like to play with the eye candy maxed out. I prefer ATi/Amd cards so o guess 4870x2 is the only option but will it be a big enough jump to fork out top dollars, I would prefer not to go down the single slot crossfire route. I have a quad 6600 o/c to 3ghz, and my board is crossfire capable. the reason for wanting an upgrade is the card seems to struggle a little and I prefer 60fps at least, across the board. Any help greatly appreciated.
 
Ok thanks, I think I have a 600 watt targan modular psu, might be a bit tight on space, at work at the moment, so can't check, I guess I should wait if this option isn't viable. Would the targon handle it I also have 2 optical drives and three internal hard drives running off it?
