To unlock overdrive you need the 8 pin power connected and to also click on the little padlock/red icon that is on the overdrive page 
Under windows the card will run slower to save energy and heat and the clocks will speed up under 3d applications.

Well the 8-pin is in and I don't remember seeing a padlock icon, but I'll look into it. The thing with the clock speeds makes sense now, seeing as CS:Source ran at 450+ fps on a high res. with high settings =D Many thanks for your help dude.
