ok, well the 3870 has a 3 pin power thing and a 4 pin one,

thing is i only have 3 pin cables with my corsair hx 620watt..

i have plugged in a 3 pin into the 3 pin slot, and also a 3 pin into the 4 pin slot.. so do i need to buy a 4 pin cable or is 3 ok?

pretty hard to explain what i mean but im sure someone understands

also, i just remembered there is infact a 4 pin connection thing coming from the power supply, but it does not fit into the 4 pin on the card.. same style of power connector though

The connectors are 6 pin and 8 pin. The two 6 pin connectors you have will work fine. Thats all I have in mine. They only fit one way so don't force them.

Using the 6 pin cable will just disable ATI Overdrive in the CCC, but you can still use Rivatuner etc to overclock it. The two missing pins are just grounds anyway so it's not like you actually get more power from using them.

The above said I bought a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter cable because I'm fussy.
