Building a new system this week; 3900x on B550 chipset.

Is it worth attempting an overclock on this, or just leave it stock and allow the AMD software to control it?

Most of the videos I've seen suggest it's not really worth it.

Can anyone offer any experience?

I've got my 3900X at 4.4GHz all core @ 1.32V and I get better performance than I did at stock and temperatures are lower. I normally see temps in the low 50s when gaming and that's using a NZXT Kraken Z73 so no fancy custom water cooling.

Really depends on the chip. Generally a single core will boost higher than your max stable all-core overclock, so there's a trade-off there.

Personally I went with PBO tuning and a slight undervolt. My 3700x is a bit of a dog, so that gets me about 4.35GHz single core and 4.125GHz all-core (which is acceptable, but nothing to write home about).
