I have the chance of getting a 3930k for free. My current setup is a 4770k @ 4.4k driving 780's in SLI @ 1440p - it's used purely for gaming.
Circumstances mean I can't just take the chip and sell it on for a profit, I either use it or I don't have it. The chip has never been overclocked as far as I am aware, and has sat in a pc with the bog standard Intel cooler on it. The 3930k's seem to be pretty good clockers from what I have read though.
So, is it worth taking my loop apart for this? Selling my current chip and motherboard/ram will fund a new motherboard & ram I would imagine.
The sensible part of me says this is a side step at best (depending on the o/c), but the geek in me wants hexacore!
