3930K W/W Poor Temps?

Hi 8Pack

My watercooled 3930K seems to require 1.35v to maintain 4.5Ghz which seems rather poor. I have set LLC to high, voltage to 1.35 and can pass IBT / Prime etc with temps hitting high 60s

it seems like a high temp given what i would consider a very good watercooling setup, and my CPU seems to require quite a lot of volts for what is surely only a "good" overclock

If you can give me any pointers it would be MUCH appreciated

System specs below

Asus Rampage Extreme IV
3930K CPU
360mm Alphacool Monsta radiator
240mm EK radiator
Switch 810 loaded with Ap-15 Gentle Typhoons (fans on top of rads pulling)

Using a pea sized blob of IC Diamond (checked size against a real pea too!)

Contact should be spot on, but ill check if you think its worth it

Ah forgot to say, currently just using 4 x 4GB dimms as ram in my server packed up so loaned some to it!

OK i have it stable at 4.5Ghz which isnt wonderful (before i try reseating TIM)

125x36
VTT is 1.150
VCore 1.35 in BIOS (1.32 in windows with medium LLC)
CPU PLL 1.881
CPU VCCSA 1.159

Temps hitting 70 degrees using IBT
My cooling setup should surely be better?

I've kept the RAM running at stock 1600mhz as i thought that getting the CPU stable before the RAM would be wise

I'm going to reseat the block tonight as i really think that the watercooling setup i have should be doing a much better job

OK, i've reseated my heatsink with MX-3 and temps are much the same

got a 101 BSOD this morning at 1.32v 125x36, same voltages as mentioned above

Does it seem like i'm needing a rather excessive amount of Vcore for an average overclock?

Update for you

I have done 10 runs of IBT on maximum and it passed @ 4.749ghz (125*38)
Vcore is 1.424 and realtemp shows highest core at 74 degrees

Is this a decent overclock?

RAM speed is still quite low but looking at starting overclocking tonight

Any tips on what i should try out for? Would be nice to get around 2400mhz but i know now all RAM will reach those speeds. Or is a slower speed with tighter timings better?

Thanks 8Pack, those settings worked fine. What should i do with regards to tightening the timings?

I passed 12 hours memtest and superpi 32m, along with Prime blend.

Thanks for the info, i just want to make sure we're talking about the same timings so i don't stuff this up!

Here is a screenshot of my memtweakit
when you say 5,96, auto, 10,6,26,6,8 then i assume you mean

RAS to RAS = 5
DRAM REF = 96
DRAM ref interval = auto
i'm unsure if you want the 10 to be in tWR, 6 in tRTP, 26 in tFAW, 6 in tWTR and 8 in tCKE

Dont want to put the wrong settings in the wrong place!

OK i've done what you've suggested

If you look at the read, write and copy times on Aida though, they don't seem great compared to what people on P67 platform have been getting. Do they look right to you? Is there anything more i can do?

I really appreciate you helping myself and all the other guys out on this forum, i know it's a lot of work for you and i think it's really great you give your own time to do it

Failing Prime Blend with these settings, which ones should i start loosening off before retrying Prime?
