Behind you... Naked!
I have just been given one of these

I have had a peek around and I find that it should be setup via the 192.168.1.1 which ok, is fine, but when I try to go there, it shows nothing, and gives the usual Page not found issue.

I put it there instead of my linksys and I have done a few things, but I just cannot get it to show the config page at all?

Any clues?

If there any CLI command that will let me show a Modem/Router on there?

If I connect the Linksys back up, it find the gateway, but this does not seem to show up like that, which is a shame.

Im a bit stuck.

Has your network card got an IP in the same subnet (i.e. if the router's 192.168.1.1, it'll have to be 192.168.1.2-254)?

Yes.

My Linksys is normally the same...

192.168.1.1

PC 1 = 192 .68.1.64
PC 2 = 192 .68.1.65
PC 3 = 192 .68.1.66

And so on...

Its just completely ignoring any attempt at talking to it.

Im going to switch it on in a bit and see if I can get at it wirelessly???

Make sure you are using a straight-through network cable directly into the router and set your PCs network card to Automatically Obtain.

Then do a Start > Run > cmd /K ipconfig /release

followed by

Start > Run > cmd /K ipconfig /renew

Make sure you get an IP address from the new router and take a note of it. aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd

Then try access the config page at aaa.bbb.ccc.1

If ou were given it, all chances are that it is not setup on its default settings. If the above does not work follow the manuals Hard Reset instructions and then follow the normal "Quick Start" procedure for that model.

I think its broken.

I cannot seem to sort it out.

SIN_CHASE.
Thank you yes, I tried simple ipconfig from the CLI

And I get this :-

IP Address = 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask = 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway = ( Blank )

Of ocurse with the Linksys I get expected figures. 192.168. so on and so forth

he silly thing here, is that even though its giving me 0.0.0.0 I am looking at the other PCs and I am perfectly able to copy files to and from them... As I want to.

So, how is that possible?

This PC is set to static and its IP is actualyl coming out at 192.168.1.64 which makes me wonder how is the Router able to assign an IP to the PCs but have no IP itself???

I think therefore that the Router is just broken ina funny way???

---

Ok, I cannot send this psot out cost Im on the other router again now...

I have just got something back

Autoconfig IP = 169.254.215.78
Subnet Mask = 255.255.0.0
Default = ( Blank still )

Its showing that I have limited access, so Im going to manually assign an IP, back to 192.168.1.64 as the linksys gives me and see what happens?

No, hang on, I ill release and renew as you suggested...

...Aquiring....

No, it timed out... Ill set it manually then

---

Nope, not doing anythign either?

I just been to get the kids and just got back 10 minutes ago, and now its saying the network cable is unplugged, btu all 4 LAN Lights are on.

Its knackered I recon.

Yes, of course.

Well, I pressed the RESET button for a good 10 or so seconds and it definitely reset it.

I know the bloody thing is supposed to be 192.168.1.1 as I find this one the net in many places, plus when I set the PCs to 192.168.1.X the network seems fine while other times its limited, but its still ignoring me.
