I'm in the market for a new monitor.

Here are my PC specs incase they will have a dramatic outcome on my enjoyment of the new screen.

Windows 8.1
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
8gig Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

So far I'm undecided about these 3 and I'm leaning towards the BenQ XL2411T Rev2.0 24" TRUE

Please feel free to suggest other models I haven't listed.

1 - BenQ XL2411T Rev2.0 24" TRUE 144Hz Flicker FREE 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor - Black

2 - BenQ XL2420T rev2.0 24"

3 - Benq XL2720T 27"

I only really use my PC for gaming and in the future I'll get the 3d Glasses for use in Diablo, Starcraft and other games.

If there's a reason you would prefer a Non 3d monitor over one that does 3D, then I would also be interested in that.

Looking too purchase one in the next few days.

Thanks in Advance!

Please take this with a pinch of salt. But I just want to pass on my experience with BenQ Monitors and support. Please don't rap me for saying the below:

My BenQ XL2410T failed at the weekend and the Support Team where not so helpful. I know I am just one person who has had a bad experience but maybe look at other makes? Unless your heart is set on BenQ.

I'd certainly give this consideration:

I've decided on the BenQ XL2411T.

Thanks for that Lightboost Link too.

Hopefully i won't have any problems for a good few years yet.

Thanks for your responses.

Can you report back with your 'out of the box' experience with your monitor when it arrives? I'm in the market and the XL2411T is almost certainly what I'll be going for :D

Sure thing. Won't be giving it a run out till Tuesday or Wednesday. If there's any questions you want answering say and ill make a note.

I finally took the plunge...

Should be here tomorrow :D

One thing, I didn't buy it here but from another well known online seller and they make no mention of whether its a rev.2 or not? Should that be a concern or should I just take it as read that its new stock and current rev?

@MrMacca - how are you getting on with yours? Any tips for getting it to look amazing :)

Apologies for not getting back sooner.

1st Thoughts.

I really love the look of the monitor. However I am still trying to get the colours to look good. I've tried setting them to recommendations elsewhere, but I am never satisfied with the black levels.

Sometimes the black looks more grey, and if I tweak it I'm still not happy with the look.

However, It's miles better than my previous monitor, so I'm happy within that regard. the 122 or 144 in games is the best feature by far. And Like everyone else mentions, it does take me back to the old CRT days. The 122hz has made me get back into Counterstrike after many many years of not playing it, and it feels like I remember now.

Everything is so smooth and silky.

If anyone has any decent guides, programs or whatever to help me truly set it up once and for all, I would appreciate it.

Sam.Wheale, I'm still researching it, even after 3 weeks. I've tried out the Lightboost App and when I use it, it seems to make everything darker and I prefer using it without at the moment.

I don't have the 3d Kit yet, so I can't give a review of that but hopefully I can obtain one soon.

Overall, I love it and I do not regret the purchase, however I wish I could get a colour balance I am happy with.

Only thing useful I've also found whilst researching is this website - http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/

Which has loads of fixes for 3d games. sadly I've been unable to test anything yet.

I've just finished playing with my new monitor and I have to say, that like others have said, out of the box - the colours really aren't that great...

The first thing I did was turn down the brightness - 100? It looked awful :(

That's improved things a lot but I still feel I have a long way to go! How do you get the refresh rate to 120 with a DVI cable? Catalyst (AMD) won't let me set it. Could that be because I'm using my old DVI-D cable? Perhaps I should use the supplied one :)

I'm off to look for any setup guides that are out there now.

You'll need to use the dual (DVI DL) cable, old style doesn't support anything over 60hz.

But I'm sure you've tried the cable out of the new monitor box by now and already know that ;)

Yeah, thanks! The supplied cable worked a treat thanks although oddly, I can only get 120hz when that cable alone is plugged into my 6950. When I plug in my TV via a DVI adaptor to VGA, I can only get 60hz :(

Any ideas?

Did you definitely get a rev 2.0 model with the higher 144Hz?

The VGA will not allow frequencies about 70Hz so 60Hz will be the max compatible when converted.

I'd try reinstalling the monitor drivers. I've seen many threads where certain modes and settings were unavailable until windows correctly identifies the exact monitor and model.

I've just done an automatic (online) update and the monitor is installed now - I still can't set it to 120hz but then I haven't restarted yet - that usually does the trick ;)
