Just wonder if someone could help me please. i have a Samsung H6400 3D im wondering if my tv can play these files i know it may sound a stupid question but never really played any 3D content on the TV could someone please tell me what these mean and if the TV will support

3D.BluRay.Half-SBS.x264.DTS-HD.MA.5.1

3D.BluRay.Half-OU.x264.DTS-HD.MA.5.1

If the TV does support which is the best for viewing many thanks

3D.BluRay.Half-SBS.x264.DTS-HD.MA.5.1

3D.BluRay.Half-OU.x264.DTS-HD.MA.5.1

We'll ignore the non-relevant bits of info such as encoding and audio format and just deal with the 3D-related info underlined.

SBS - Side-by-Side

OU - Over / Under (A.K.A. TB - Top / Bottom)

Both are ways of taking a standard 1920x1080 HD video frame and jamming in the content required for a 3D image without increasing the amount of data to be stored or transmitted.

Each takes the video frame and divides it in to two. OU divides it horizontally while SBS makes a vertical division. This means each half is now lower resolution. The two images for 3D are then squashed down from 1920x1080 to a lower resolution, and they're also distorted optically.

OU (TB) has 1920 x 540 window at the top of the frame and another 1920 x 540 window at the bottom. The image for each window is squashed vertically. On playback the TV expands each image and plays them sequentially for the left then right eye. SBS does the same except the window is split vertically in to two 920Wx1080H resolution windows. The source images are squashed width ways.

Every 3D TV I have come across has the ability to play SBS and TB. This is so they'll be compatible with TV broadcasts where the bandwidth isn't generally available to send two 1920x1080 HD frames in the same space normally occupied by 1080i.
