Speculative at best, but who knows.
I can maybe see it being used on an IGPU but I'm not sure it's worth it on a full gpu but then I suppose with the more modular design of AMD gpu's now they can add in modules however they feel would benefit them... personally I expect AI modules before 3D cache.
If you want to go slow and fat then it's a good shout, but at the moment they've been going thin and fast so need all the cooling they can get.
But it's probably part of the design language to enable incremental development later down the line.
