3D Clocks dropping to 2D while in game?

I decided to monitor temps and other things while gaming (steam/insurgency) and noticed my card at times was going into 2D clock mode , any idea why?

Just played GTAIV clocks remained in 3D so its just the score screen doing it in insurgency , PHEW!
