3D Crashes...

Hey all.

I have this problem with my computer. When I go to do a 3D game, the game crashes with a "This program has encountered a problem and needs to close..." with the Send and Don't Send boxes. Very occasionally it will also bluescreen. :(

I'm really stumped with this one. I have my Audigy 2 ZS and TV card removed, so it's just the basics. The only things I can think of are either PSU or memory.

Please help! Thanks in advance,
Chris (Monkeynut)

ATITool does not work at all, sits in the system tray, does nothing, and consumes 50% of each core of the CPU. :(

Here's the voltages everest displays:

When playing Oblivion for example the voltages stay rock solid but the 5V dips slightly to 5.48

try ati tray tools not atitool,

have you got all latest drivers etc, stupid question i know but you never know lol

is this a new pc or did you have another gfx before the 3870? if so did that work ok?

Will give ATI Tray Tools a try tomorrow then mate.
I have the Catalyst 8.3 drivers installed

Previous graphics card was an 8600GT which was fine.

Interesting. Got through 3/4 of an hour of C&C 3 before it threw a wobbler with a Direct3D error, related to DirectX dlls and Kernel32. The OS seems to be choking to death on everything installed. time for another reformat it seems. :(
