In Japan they have found an interesting use for a 3D printer.

Using MRI scan, a 3D printer can create a 9-centimetre resin model of the white foetus, encased in a transparent block in the shape of the mother's body.

Wonder whether it will become popular here, & if it was, & your gf or missus was pregnant would you have one made, if it was available at a sensible price?

You could turn them into pendants, earrings, ornaments, hang one from your car mirror and even see how many you can get on a bracelet. :p This will definitely go down well in Japan. :D

I think it could be a nice thing, though it would depend on how late in the pregnancy they are done!

If done too early, the foetus won't have put on much fat/tissue round the skeleton etc and they look pretty freaky, as it's the fat/tissue that gives them shape initially!

That's amazing, much better than the regular 2-d scaned pictures. Imagine popping a 10 note into a machine and having a CNC machine carve it out whilst you wait, this could save the NHS! lol
