3D for Beginners ?

Welp, finished clocking my system up (see sig) and want to put it to some use with all that lovely CPU Power.

Fancy getting back into 3D Rendering... maybe do a bit of Games Modding. Anyone suggest a nice simple 3D rendering (free, pref) that I can get my hands on to start messing about with ?

I used to mess around with Lightwave many years ago.. something similar(ish ish ish!

) would be handy.

You also might want to try and get hold of Gmax. Its the free stripped down version of 3D studio max. I think it might have the rendering section removed, but its ideal to learn modelling and texturing.

Blender by far! Used it for months now and while it has a high learning curve, once you know the keys to press the results are incredible. Also has a built in support for scripting, physics, sequence editing and has updates nearly every 6 months.

Well don't 'publish' much, only the ones I like myself, I'm still learning it everyday especially the scripting side of things and the dynamics (how many times do people wanna see refractive spheres on checkered tiles

).

When you get less busy, give Blender a try, you won't regret it.
