Hey guys,

Sorry for the noob/lazy thread but I don't have tonnes of time to look at everything atm.

Simply put - can I play games in 3d with my LG W236D and my 6970?

I know Nvidia lead the way with 3d but how are AMD doing atm? Is it at all possible for me and if so what would I need to buy hardware-wise?

To those of you that use 3d gaming or have tried it - would you recommend it or is it still disorientating as people had said in the past?

I'm thinking BF3 (standard lol) SP in 3d might be a pretty good game to try it out.

Thanks for any input as ever,

Wu

ive been looking into this briefly too.....

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/pages/gaming.aspx

unlike nvidia which seems to support most games by converting it to 3d.. it seems with ATI the games have to support it... unless you get 3rd party software (cant remember what its called... do a quick google) but even then it wont be like the active shutter glasses with nvidia.

thats what ive understood so far... i could be wrong so dont quote me on it.

I don't reccomend 3D gaming (and I have the nVidia 3D kit) I'll try and keep it to some simple key points:

*Effect is quite good in a lot of games

*Way to often you have to disable advanced effects like shadows which IMO the extra depth effect doesn't make up for the other losses in visual quality.

*Don't bother with any solution other than nVidias they simply don't have the level of support, maturity and documentation/testing.

*Most people don't have a problem with the effect - headaches, disorientation, etc. only are a problem for a minimal number of people.

*Most games are just more convenient, accessable and playable in 2D I pretty much guarantee 9/10 people just won't bother using the 3D vision kit after the initial novelty wears off i.e. a fast paced online fps game using 3D vision would slow down your ability to quickly and accurately react to events in the game and other players would run rings around you. Single player games like Batman AA are jaw dropping at first to play in 3D but after awhile you will feel like your playing with "blinkers" on and not able to quite take in the whole scene as efficently as in 2D mode for want of a better way to explain it.

*Before you spend a lot of money on it try and test it for awhile if possible to see how you get on with it.
