3D Gaming - Please explain

Fast track to a headache

3D TV/games via goggles and expensive screens. Do not want

Utter nonsense, most people have no issues. Although some do yes but few suffer from headaches.
If you bother to read many forums with users/owners by far the majority of people are really enjoying their 3D sets.

Unfortunatly I am one of the "few" who doesn't get on with 3D glasses (active shutter or polorised).

And if you go to a car forum, you'll find people who like talking about their car. Dog forums where people talk about how cute their dog is. And so on.

I can and do read thanks. Still do not want

Well unfortunate for you, but if you have problems with 3D then Id ask why the heck you bother reading or indeed post in such threads.

I get a slight dizzy feeling after watching anything 3d, Not half as bad as some people but it is quite worrying that it is there,

Sucks really as I like the experience so just put up with it :p

Get a killer headache (almost Migraine like) with active shutter glasses =(
More then fine with passive glasses though! Just cant seem to 'find' a good passive 3d tv anywhere, which wont cost the earth.

Toshiba 3DTV without glasses. Supposedly using tech similar to the new Nintendo 3DS.

It will suffer from positional viewing angle issues and effect performance if your not sitting within the sweetspot. Be a few years yet to perfect non glasses 3D according to most reports.

You guys that get headaches, is that in shops with bright reflectve lighting or in proper lit conditions suitable for 3D?

Am I the only one that finds 3D glasses slightly uncomfortable?

Not enough to distract from the viewing, but just that I never really become "unaware" of their existence. Because they're obviously designed as one-size-fits-all, they never quite sit right on my nose, and allied with the fact that the cheap plastic makes them fairly heavy, I never get used to them being there in the way that normal glasses do.

I just played Wipeout HD (in 3D) at work. It was pretty meh tbh. I've not been impressed with anything 3D really... It only really works with things at extreme depths (layers) and stuff flying out of or into the screen at depth. So it's pretty limited imo.

Thats about my take on it too :) seems much more suited to the 'cartooney' nintendo style where they can really abuse it with a distinct background and foreground layer.

In general 3D has fans that love it and people that arnt that impressed no matter the content.
However its not always about POP OUT effect that lots of people seem to expect constantly.

Its about depth perception and being drawn into the screen/action as much as it is those eye popping out of screen effects that would get tiring all the time.

Ive seen some great 3D demos and some not so great tbh.
Although the PS3 3D demo games seem to get very mixed reports as well, some really love them others are indeed thinking just meh, okay.

This backs up what i said earlier.
This technology is still in its infancy, and i expect many variations in features and the tech in general over the next 5 years.

I'll wait until all manufacturers have sorted out the best way of doing it :p

I tried this 3D thing when Panasonic were demoing it in Hanley shopping centre. I tried it and it didn't look like things were popping out the screen all the glasses did is got rid of the blurriness that you see if your not wearing the glasses.

Same with the old 3D movies. I couldn't see the point in watching the whole movie in either blue or red. As that's all the effect I use to get when the classic 3D glasses.

I hear that you have to have one hundred percent stereo vision for 3D to work. Which I assume means billions won't buy a product that doesn't work for them. Pointless tech to add to a TV if you ask me. I mean I assume eventually 3D will be part of all new TVs which means I'll be force in time to pay for a feature I can't even take advantage of.

What next a new radio for deaf people? lol
