At the moment - the best implementation of 3D gaming on the PC is done by nvidia.

They offer the whole package, graphics cards, drivers, glasses kits - and they work with pretty much all 120Hz PC monitors and now with 3DTV play - 3DTVs as well.

However, if you are buying a 3DTV mainly for PC gaming - then please be aware that due to the limits of HDMI 1.4 - 3D content can only be viewed at 1080p@24Hz or 720p@60Hz. With the current implementation, 3D 1080p@60Hz is not possible with HDMI - you need dual link DVI (or displayport) to provide this level of bandwidth. Hence if your main reason for buying a 3DTV is gaming, then I would instead suggest going for a 120Hz PC monitor. I believe Acer are releasing a 27in one soon and there are already many good quality 23/24in ones on the market.

However, if you are buying the 3DTV for other reasons (3D Blu-Ray, Sky 3D, 3D camcorder etc.) and gaming will just be something on the side - then the Nvidia 3DTV Play is a good option. Just set it to 3D 720p @60Hz, let the TV scale the image as best as possible and enjoy gaming on it. Obviously, this will require a nvidia graphics card - but one that can handle 3D at 720p is not going to break the bank, personally I would have a look at the GTX 560, which should be out in a few days.

or let the tv do the 2d to 3d, which allows u to still game @ 1080p 60hz and no need for graphic card upgrade.

it's similar to what the 3d software does anyway

Not really, nvidia PC 3D software actually means that games render the images twice- once for each eye (as the perspective from each eye will be subtly different), so you get a realistic feeling of depth.

A TV processing a 2D image and "guessing" to create a 3D image is quite a different thing altogether.

In no way is the 2d/3d conversion that tv's use comparable in any manner.

A 3d card will render 2 individual views from different positions one for each eye, whilst the tv conversion, will take a 2d image and guess at where everything could be in 3d space, and tottaly fail at doing so.

Edit - beaten. see above.

i've tried iZ3D which i think it does a similar job to nvidia 3d software but tbh i didn't find it much differece from the tv 2d to 3d

i admit 3d blu-ray movies is a lot better than the tv 2d to 3d...
