3d mark 05 noobie ???

Ok, just got my new rig up and running specs are


athlon 4400(o/c to 4800)
xfx 7800gt extreme (@497mhz/1.15ghz)
asus a8nsli-premium
x-fi xtreme music
250gb samsung spinpoint p120s
2 gb corsair 3500ll-pro
seasonic s12 600

got score of 6789, I dont know if thats good or not what do you guys reckon???

yeh bad score, should get around 7400 like mine does but you have the dual core cpu, so you prob score quite a bit higher then mine.

hmmmm, where do u think Im going wrong? The only thing I can think of is the drivers I use are 81.98 -XTreme-G by TRU, not the 1s directly from nvidia.

try using the latest nVidia ones, they do make a difference.

Also, make sure you update the nForce drivers to, I think the latest version is 6.67. That made a difference for me.

have you got AA or AF setup in your driver ( rather than application preference )..

Does seem a bit low though, I'm hitting 6200+ on my rig which has an inferior GC and CPU.

Ok changed AA and AF to app prefered and installed latest Nvidia drivers. Got a score of 7541 which I'm figuring is a LOT better just to change a few settings..

You've still got room to improve. I'm at 8100 with the rig in my sig; and I only had my 7800gt doing 785/1.07. My CPU was 2.75 ish at the time.

Try changing the performance & quality settings to high performance if you have not already. After that you can try tweaking your PCI-E speed in your BIOS. Try 105 first then 110.

Ok had a fiddle with the settings , ran the full test and got 8340.
Will changing resoulutins affect it as Im testing at 1024x768????

That's more like it (in fact that's better than i was expecting). Don't worry about resolutions unless you've got the full version. With the basic version you can only run at one setting.

ermm core at 785 mhz im guessing that was a typo. does the ram not go faster on the 7800gt's cos that seems a bit slow for ram tbh
