3D Mark 05 on a 7600GT

Could be my Internet but...

I have my com_maxfps set to ZERO

Im going to change it to 125 and see what happens :D

Should be it!

DONE!!!! :D :D

Set my com_mapfps to 125 instead of 0 which it was on and all is good!!!

Back to how it was/should be.

Still getting the tinyest frame drop of like 10 frames, but thats how it was when it was all good, and im putting that down to the older drivers I am using, the fact that I am using my wireless connection and we will have used our 2GB monthly download cap!

Il try wired tomorrow!

Thanks again!!

Steve :)

I have 56 processes running.

When I am in game, my CPU usage is 30%, could that help towards the stutters?

But I just dont get it...It has been fine for 2 weeks previous, with all the processes running etc.

Steve

Kill some of those processes! Seriously I have only 18 processes at startup (a minute after login, to be exact). You really shouldn't have more than 20 processes at startup.

What can I do!

I have never touched my processes bit...

i cant imagine needing that many processes running... I have 19 on startup. Ive seen machines with 50-60 and they run terribly. Even if you think there essential to you, they cant be doing your performance any good.

lol its something that a lot of people totally overlook... goto start > run type msconfig then goto startup and you can then delete all the unecesary ones.

i mean honestly do you need itunes helper or any DVD to automatically startup?

youve got to look at all these processes as programs that are open on your computer... if you have 30+ programs open on your computer im sure you'll agree that you wouldnt expect it to perform that well ;). Just find the ones that are totally uneeded. should be able to get down to atleast 25-30

Right I got ya :)

If I uncheck something in the msconfig, will the process still be there in the Start Up tab in msconfig for me to check it again if I accidentally uncheck a wrong one?

Steve

i get a lot of hitching and stuttering if i have a crap ping when playing fear combat. yet in single player mode the game runs smooth as silk. its the net connection to blame.
