Technically speaking, CGI just means imagery that's generated by a computer, it doesn't specify whether it's realtime or pre-rendered. Typically, yes, it is pre-rendered, but CGI can be used to mean realtime rendering too.

The problem with DOF is that just because they want you to look(focus) on something doesn't mean that it is where you want to look. In real life you are changing where you look all the time.
