Hi all, have this set up fine, and it renders, however the only way to get the final render is to save the file from within max, the file it outputs to a save destination is simply black.... help?

Sadly no, I already have view selected.. but it is like it renders the starfield image, then renders a blank one over it to save!

I render the effect, form the Video Post menu, this is what I get if I save the file from in 3d max:

oc1.jpg

But this is the file that 3d max outputs to a folder:

oc2.jpg

Short of saving each frame individualy (I have 4000) I cant work out what to do!

Just as you would press M for materials press 8 for environment and then a window will pop up, this is the environment thingy, there are effects and stuff in here and what have you perhaps you applied one in here or maby you have done some thing strange to the camera check the camera's settings, it sounds like its doing 2 passes which can be cause by a lot of things, including things like Depth of field, motion blur and environment effects.

There are no effects under the "Effects" Tab, under the Environment tab, under Atmosphere, I ahve Volume Light... Turning it off does not help....

The second pass is the one that seems to add the stars also, as it renders almost fully with none, then they are there as it finishes...

No problem, they are great helping me out. Just be sure to make it clear that you've already been trying to work it out and made the effort otherwise its just asking without having tried.
