3D modelling programs for noobs

I have a very simple design I need to have in a 3D printable format.

Is there an easy software out there that will allow me to design something in a format that I can send to a 3D printers?

Easy software? No, not really. 3d software by it's nature is pretty complex.

Blender is free and should do what you need though.

If it's a very simple design then Sketchup will likely be far easier/better.
