Just a few weeks after the release of PC and Xbox 360 shooter Prey, 3D Realms' Scott Miller has confirmed that a sequel is already in development.

Speaking in an interview with Next-Gen, when asked what he's working on these days, Miller replied: "Prey 2, of course!"

So what have we got to look forward to next time around? Well, Miller wasn't very forthcoming, but he did say: "We are addressing concerns about combat, as well as adding in more gameplay innovations." Which sounds nice.

This isn't the first time 3D Realms has suggested that a sequel is on the way. As we reported last month, a message at the end of the first game reads: "Prey will continue" - so it comes as little surprise to learn that it is indeed, er, continuing.

Here's hoping that Prey 2 won't take quite as long to get here as the first game, though - which was first announced back in 1997.

Prey was announced in 1997?!?! They took their time!

I've played the demo of Prey but have yet to buy the full game. The idea of new innovations sounds very interesting. The portals i thought were really good so i'm looking forward to seeing what it is they're developing this time round.

Maybe they'll release it to coincide with the release of Duke Nukem Forever.

:p

lol

God that game still in production?? I think they are using the game as an excuse to test all the engines. :p
I remember watching the Video at college. That was years ago.

I was pretty impressed with Prey, Like how they have made it a little different. Although I can imagine this being years away...

I think they use it to keep up employee moral.. e.g.

"Hey dave.. here are those guys doing a preview of Prey.. watcha working on at the moment?"

"Duke Nukem Forever" <sniggers>

"LOL.. cool Dave.. cool.."

*Dave is a fictional character created from the minefields of gord's brain

didnt Prey 1 have to be good to do a sequel?

I mean, i found Prey just a fancy gfx shooter in confined spaces with pretty much route 1 gameplay.

to be honest though...they did quite well on elminating the bugs that most games tend to come with....havent had any and ive completed it.
saying that the replay value of this game is quite low...on single player anyway

Prey was announced long before 1997, I have a PC Gamer magazine from around Feb 1996 containing a short preview. Looking forward to a sequel but hope they make it less linear and more challenging next time.

Hate to burst the bubble on jokes about 3D Realms but the game was developed by another company. (and yes I am to lazy to say who did develop it) ;)

It was developed by Human Head Studios, published by 3D Realms. The Xbox 360 version was developed by Venom Games and published by 2K Games. (the publisher may be the other way around)

3DRealms are not a publisher. It was their IP (as in intellectual property) and they designed the game, but handed actual development over to human head.
