Hi I have about £500 for 3d work mostly and I and wondering should I go with Intel or amd cpu?

Intel if you can afford it. Your budget of £500 needs to include what? Are you after a full tower with operating system?

An 8 core AMD will give you better performance for your money, a good PC for rendering is definitely doable with £500.

At the top end, AMD CPUs can't compete, but at the bottom to middle their CPUs are better for the money when it comes to highly threaded tasks.
