3D worth it???

Hey.
Im looking at buying a new TV next week...and see a lot of 3D TV's hitting the shops. Do you thin this 3D thing is just a gimick...or do you think its the thing of the future?
I like to buy the latest and gretatest...but not sure about this 3D advancement at all. Cant really see me puting a pair of 3d specs on every time I want to watch TV/Movie...or game even.

While im here...whats best TV I can get for arround £1000 ish.

god damn..now youve thrown in a curve ball...'plasma' TV's. I was leaning towards the LED TV range without 3D for arround the 1000-1200 range.

ordered a 46" Samsung c6530 yesterday..the next best to the 3d..but not 3d. Like above..think its just a gimmick for just now.
