I've got a bit of a problem with 3dm06..

Every time I run it regardless of wether I am overclocked or not it always fails.. it says it has encountered a probalem and has to close??

I've overcooked clocks before and its bombed out (generally crashing or freezing the system) this looks more like a software issue.. I've removed it, downloaded it again and reinstalled but no joy??

I had this same issue with an x1900xt a few builds back, always rock solid in games etc but would not run 3dm06 for love nor money!!!

Plus, the nv control panel doesn't seem to be actually testing any clocks I apply to my gx2.. so it will allow me to run them up to 800/800+ (it is watercooled but I doubt that is where its happy!!) is there any other software I could try?

Does the artifact scan on ati tool work with NV cards?

(PS the card is watercooled so its not temps at the root of this)

ATi tool works fine on the GX2 - took mine to 580/831 on air with a swiftech spacer. I get just over 8000 on 3DMark06 with my 3800 X2 @ 2.5ghz

Can't think what would be effecting your test? What's the spec of your machine?

only joking.. seasonic 600w

pretty standard stuff.

mine only shows upto 750 in the overclocking option for the core... with water cooling you might well be able to take it upto the max on the core - tho I'd have thought that would need a volt mod too... deffinatly with a volt mod, water cooling and luck of the draw on decent memory you can run those cards at 750/800...

I'd say that the problem with 3D Marks 06 was more likely to be operating system related - have you tried reinstalling DX9c + the various annoying little updates?

hmm.. bit of an update now.. I had a hunch I might have some recalcitrant memory so I upped the voltage to 1.95 and 3d mark seems to be running fine now.. very strange.

Anyway, I ran ATI tool and it seems to have sourced 650/800 as the max I can run at. I've set that and with the cpu at 3.4 I get 8700 3d marks.

Am I right in thinking thats a bit on the light side?

I'd say 8700 was a bit low for that clock speed... (sounds like stock speeds) but I've seen the GX2 mysteriously throttle to stock speeds at higher clocks even when the temps were fine (and throttling suposedly disabled) - so try 590 or 600 on the core and 700 on the memory and see what it gives you.

right.. 650/800 cpu at 3.75 and I got 8750.

very odd.. starting to think it might be a driver thing.. just updated to the newest ones, I might roll it back and see what happens.. or go find some beta drivers??
