Keep geting the error

"the procedure entry point alcGetString could not be located in the dynamic link library OpenAL32.dll".


Tried reinstaling openal with the latest version and no change, ideas? :o
 
Ya its a bug and I bet you on Vista ?

Anyhow grab latest patch 3DMARK06 and then grab file bellow from me (its simply as 3DMARK06 installs the file to wrong place in Vista).

BTW, I aint gonna serve this file all day, I have stuff uploading and will only slow it to let you ge that file, so after 4:30pm Im away from PC and file will be gone also.

Should work, I got same kinda error as you (cant remember exactly).

I tried everything until I found the OpenAL.exe goes to wrong place in Vista (not sure if only 64bit bug).

Im on Vista64 BTW.
 
Well all I did initually was install 3DMARK06, got issue when try to run about OPENAL.

Installed Vista patch for 3DMARK06, still same issue.

Got that new OPENAL.exe which installs to correct location in Vista and it works now.

Is your the free version or full Pro ?

full version, came with the motherboard. already updated to the latest patch. Might just uninstall it all and reboot an try again :S
 
aye could be sound issues... i remember having an problem when i first put my PC together. Vista 64 here too.
 
I had this problem, go to your 32bit program files and find OpenAL, run the .exe in there. That solved the problem for me.
 
What graphic cars are you using Gerard?

I had a problem last year trying to get a HD2900XT to even launch 3DMark06, let alone run it, turns out there was some file that had to be deleted because it clashed with the card?

Still no luck, tried uninstaling it, tried cancelling the built int openal installer and using the dlaoded one and still nothing. If files just have to be moved what files and where to?

Had it working fine last week just now its gone nuts for some reason, cards a 3870x2 bt last week i had no probs. Clean install this week and its gone stupid.
 
Finally got it working, had to snag openal32.dll (130k) from system 32 dir and copy it to the future mark dir, version of the file there was only 100k.
