When i test my rig I get a score around 15,500 this is with a Duel core e6600 at 3.2 ghz, Now if I was to upgrade to a 8500 or 8600 duel core would it increase the score to over 20,000 ??

Was looking at the 3dmark 06 thread which there is a lot of people with 20,000 plus score "I feel left out" :-(

I have E8500 @ 4ghz, yesterday run 3Dmark06, GTX280 stock!

16390 - total
7482 - gpu
7850 - gpu
3601 cpu score

but OC wasn't stable, just increased FSB to see temp of new cooler!
also 19" monitor reduce my score to

Almost twice what we paid for the GTX280 and uses a heck of a lot more power to achieve that though.

Huh ?

I was commneting that you can indeed get 20k plus with the setup he has, where the ATi bashing has to come into it I dont know.

You can get over 20K with dual core, my set up did when I ran it last, a while ago now, think it was about 21K with my crossfire set up, about 15/16 if I turned crossfire off

So What settings are you all using to get 20+,ooo in 3dmark 06 1280 X 1024 ??

I do know that crossfire is working just seems a bit low unless its my CPU holding back score.
I do know that this type of bench mark does not tell the whole story but i would like to know why i am not average "score wise"

Latest score 15,465
SM2.0 = 6566
HDR/SM3.0 = 9076
CPU SCORE = 2821

Well my resolution is native 1920/1200 but if Im not mistaken 3dmark runs in its own standard definition, its prob your CPU holding you back I'd suggest, though dont forget theyre only benchies, they dont really mean anything, I only use as an extra stability test myself anyway. So long as your games are running fine then alls good

Take a look at the Speed of the CPU's All 4Ghz +. 06 is very CPU dependant so i doubt your going to break 20k without a large Clock on that cpu. Vantage shows more of actual GPU performance.

Can't get a high score with dual core? what? I beat most q6600 single gpu setups tbh....but to answer your question, with clocking a wolfdale could easily get well north of 20k with cf 4870s. I got nearly 23k with my E8500 clocked 100mhz less than it usually is along with 2 4870 512mbs
