i've been trying to tweak my 3870x2 to get some decent scores but the best i can get out is 12370 with my amd 6400+ at stock settings, looking online this seems to be the norm for amd rigs but why does the intel cpus seem to clock up large scores, and why does 3d mark seem to be so cpu reliant.
most games run sweet COHOP COD4 etc but in a world that benchmarks matter amd seem to be falling behind.:(

3DMark06 @ 1280x1024 will always be hugly CPU dependant, thats just how it works. And yea, Intel CPU's are just faster, thats why they score higher...

but why the big increase how much FPS increase would somebody see in real world gaming say with 5000 extra 3d mark scores,
I game at 1920x1200 with most settings maxed out and get pretty good frame rates (excluding crysis) my son with a 8800gt oc with a 3dmark score at 11000+ running on E6600@3000 playing the same games can struggle so why cant a bench marking tool reflect these results.

benchmarks are nothing really.. in really world performance its totally different...

low res will be cpu limited, high res will be gpu limited...

Well for starters 3dmark defaults to 1280x1024 0xAA, so it's pretty obvious that it isn't going to reflect your results at 1920x1200 most setings maxed.

Try comparing the scores when 3dm is run at those settings instead, you will likely see more of a difference between the two systems.

problem is every result u see is at default so trying to compere like for like is difficult.
so my score for 1920x1200 with 8x anti-aliasing is 9262 anybody with a core 2 like to tell me there results
