So I have tried to run 3dmark vantag on my ATI 4870X2 and it just seems to artifact and crash my PC.
My current spec is
QX9650 @ 3ghz
Crappy Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2 --- This is a temporary mobo
2gb ram --- temporary
Asus Tri Fan 4870X2
Coolermaster Modular Real Power 700W
As said above a lot of this is temporary just now, and I will put back my current parts once I get a proper mobo.
I read somewhere that the Motherboard can only support DX9 not DX10, I am thinking this is just marketing material though as the DX is dependant on OS and GPU (???)
Anyway the 3dmark06 runs perfectly (14k so far) but 3dmark Vantage artifacts and crashes.
Is this a common thing to happen with a crappy mobo or are there any other causes for the problems? Another possibility is that the ATI is trying to run Physx while benchmarking Vantage but even when I disable PPU it does the same thing.
Everything is running at Stock.
