3DMark01: Geforce2 vs 8800 GTX :D

Thought I'd fire up the old 3DMark01 to see what score the E8400 gets and compared it to the first result I put on there many years ago.

Amazing how things have changed - especially on memory size (gpu & system ram)

Presumably he cut it off to do a straight comparison, but yes that would be interesting since its entirely GPU bound. Probably several hundred fps..

I didn't put it on as the Geforce 2 GTS didn't support it

The 8880 GTX gave 633.2 fps.

How come the GTX shows up as 1024mb of video ram - only got 768mb hasn't it? :confused:

it must only recognise even amounts that are a multiple of 2, as 768 isnt, it rounds it up

unfair test...clearly the gf2 is at a disadvantage as the gtx is running the se version.

Pretty sure 768 is both even and a multiple of 2

But I know what you mean - wonder if it would read the 320mb cards as 512mb?

It must go by powers of 2.

E.g. 2^8 = 256, 2^9 = 512, 2^10 = 1024 etc
