Just a quickie,

Wondering why my mates 4670 only scores around 7.5K in 3D06 and my 3850Pro scores about 11.2K with very similar rigs yet in modern games (COD4), its seems better - is it something to do with the way 3D06 is coded? I know its a benchmark and before everyone says 'why does it matter? - just game' I'm just curious thats all, pure curiousity....

:)

The 3850 is better than the 4670 in some things and the 4670 is slightly better in other things. When the 3850 is better it usually is by a large margin. It would seem that this is one of these situations. This is why i went for a new 3850 for my second rig instead of a 4670. Plus it was £26 cheaper. :D

In all game becnhies I've seen the 4670 comes out on top, maybe its a case of shaders vs. fillrate? where the older games benefit from the 3850 and the modern games benefit more from the 4670?

And of course 3dmark06 is not a good benchmark of modern graphics cards.

My 4870 scores not better than my old 8800GTS yet in games it is a good 10-20fps faster whch is what matters to me.

Compare them both on vantage for a more "realistic" comparison of gaming performance.
