Ok, building a new system, specs of components bought so far in my sig... My 512Mb EVGA 8800GTS arrived today, so plugged it into my existing ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe motherboard with an AMD64 3700+ @ 2.6Ghz to test it out...

Ran 3DMark06 and scored 7320, which is better than the 4300 i scored with my old 7800GTX... Both cards were running at stock... So my 1st question is, is 7320 marks a good score for a 512Mb 8800GTS paired with an AMD64 3700+

Also, i've installed Rivertuner v2.07 to overclock it from the stock settings of 650/1940, but when i goto the Performance 3D overclocking options, my memory timings are way off, and i can't even set it to the 1940 that it should be doing at stock... Picture included below:

So my 2nd question is, how do i overclock this 512Mb 8800GTS... And why is Rivertuner reporting the wrong clock speeds

Also, i am running XP and forceware drivers 169.21 drivers...

Thanks for any help on these 2 issues, and sorry for the long post... ;)

Times the memory timings Rivatuner gives you by 2 and you get your actual RAM speeds. To overclock drag the sliders to the right to increase speeds, I recommend leaving shader clock linked though. Also tick Apply overclocking at windows startup. Your CPU is showing it's age now, it's still single core, what's the CPU score you get?

Thanks for the reply... Was just wondering why the memory speed was so low, and the fact the speeds are the same for performance 3D and 2D...?

972*2 = 1944. Its DDR so you double it to see the actual DDR speed. Nvidia cards don't have separate 2D and 3D clocks I believe.

Thanks for the info on the DDR, sets my mind at rest, as i thought the card was running slower than stock...

On my old 7800GTX i had seperate speeds for 2D and 3D, maybe the new cards have the same speeds now, perhaps someone else can clarify...

The latest issue of PC Format magazine has a large article on setting up the 8800GT using Rivatuner. Found it very usful for setting up fan profiles and overclocking.
