Hi there,

I'm trying to brush off an assignment for uni (before I start my final year project in max, which will be fun). On my last project textures rendered fine - however now they seem to stay grey when rendered. It's really odd...I guess there's a simple solution to this, which I haven't found.

Edit: I've also added a massive plane - which goes under other planes. Now it seems to conflicting. In my viewports I can see the textures fine and the massive plane underneath isn't conflicting, but when I render the scene the plane is sort of mixing with the other ones.

Im just learning max atm but havn't done any texturing with it :(

Btw did you see the christmas deal 3dbuzz are doing on max training ?

3dbuzz.com are doing a special christmas deal, you get 110+ hours of max training on 2 dvds for about £60 everything from total beginner to modelling, texturing and animating, its a great bargin, got it on order myself if your quick you will prob still be able to get it. You will see the big banner on the site.

If your really stuck try asking on cgtalk max section or 3dpalace forums or the folks over at maxforums.org are really friendly.

Or send it to messiah khan he uses max.

Got any screenshots of the problem? I think i know what you mean, but it will be easier if i can see it. What renderer you using? Scanline or Mental Ray?

Oh, and if I don't reply in this thread, its probably because im too hungover after tonight. :) So feel free to add me to msn(addy in trust)

in case it's scene file corruption or a setting you changed by accident it might be worth merging your current scene into a new file.

This is really annoying. Now it's rendering the texture on my plane - but it's as if it were transparent. It's not and it's set to opaque rather than RGB intensity.

Well so far:

Managed to get the renderer to produce colour (I was using opaque maps instead of diffuse colour. But..I hap separate houses - each on their own plane, then I have 1 more huge plane underneath that as my land. That's textures and so are the smaller planes, yet when I render the scene they aren't textured. I have moved the huge plane down some so they're not colliding but it's still happening. I've added you to MSN btw.
