3g dongle with Tablets

Im looking into getting a Tablet for when im out and about,as they seem very portable compared to my fairly heavy laptop,i have an internet dongle(a contract with "3")will this work on tablets that have a usb connection?

No you will require something like a MiFi device with WiFi to allow the tablet to connect over WiFi.

or... if you have a smart phone you can do something called tether as long as your smart phone plan allows it.
