3gb memory?

Can anyone tell me if it will be ok to run 3gb of geil pc6400c4 memory on a abit ip35 pro mobo?

2x1gb and 2x512mb, will be running vista 32 bit so no use getting 4gb

The P35 chipset boards have no issues running that combination.

Thanks, is the geil memory good? ive had geil value memory in the past and had no problems.

Or is it worth paying the extra for ballisix. 2gb now then the rest at a later date?

Yeah the Geil is fine providing you won't be trying to run it over 900mhz.

If you will be then go for the PC5300 Ballistix.

i will be running at 800mhz atm because going to be running 400fsb on cpu.
Would the 5300 ballistix be better than the 6400 geil.
What about thr 6400 ballistix?
Also which would be best for futureproofing?

The Ballistix is only better if you're intending to run it faster than 900mhz.

The PC6400 Ballistix is the exact same stuff as the PC5300 version. Well we're 95% sure it is.

I suppose the Ballistix would be more futureproof as it can run faster, but tbh neither are all that futureproof as DDR3 will be the norm within 12 months.
