3ghz stable possible??

Hi I have recently installed a DFI N4f ultra sli D mobo, Opty 146 Cacjye and Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3500LL Pro TwinX ram and im going to start overclocking it in the next day or so after Ive installed all my apps/games etc. I was wondering what the chance is of it running at 2.8 or prefrebly 3ghz stable on air? I have an Artic pro 64 cooler, plus some additional fans for cooling. Also I understand that all chips are different so wont all go the same etc and im a noob at overclocking

What are the chances I will get to 3ghz??

3ghz not a huge chance, but 2.8ghz should be perfectly atainable.

I've had a lot of opties and getting 3Ghz stable isn't easy without a 0540 CABYE really even on water, I've managed it with a couple of lesser steppings but its been really pushing it.

Soz to take this slightly off topic but could someone tell me what steppings are best for overclocks?

CABYE 0540.

I agree that 3GHz on air isn't going to be easy, I've managed 3GHz with a CABNE 0545 using 1.6v on water, and 1.6v really isn't recommended whatever cooling you use.

I have a CABYE 146 0542 FPMW and i cant seem to hit past 2.65ghz but then again im also unable to up the volts on my mobo
