So just as I did with my 3g I've cracked the screen on my 3gs however this time I've not put it on the insurance yet! So I've been looking at getting it repaired and it seems fairly simple however the replacement screen I found is apparently (well according to them) only compatible with the 3g. I can't really understand why that'd be but in any-case does anyone know where I can buy a 3gs screen from?

Ps delete the link if it's not allowed.

IIRC the 3GS has a slightly different screen, I think it has some form of coating that minimises finger print marks. Apart from that they should be the same screen.

In regards to replacing the screen, it must be pretty a complicated process.

Ah that'll explain that then.

Looks pretty simple to me

If you have a look over at the AVForums there is a guy on there who broke his screen and got it repaired at a specialist for £60ish. I would much prefer to do that than do it yourself to be honest.

I had a look inside a "slightly" faulty iPhone, and I must say I wouldnt want to do that to a working £400 3GS.. Everything is so small, and there are connectors that come out of their place as soon as you take the motherboard and battery out of their place (I think you have to do this to get the screen of?).. Anyway, the "slightly faulty" iPhone was completely faulty by the time we finished.. lol.. We didnt even bother to assemble it.

So, consider getting a professional to do the job.
