I was listening to the radio earlier today and a woman talking referred to herself as a 3rd generation holocaust survivor.
I've never heard this term before and it sounded bizarre. It was as if that fact was the basis of her identity in the same way some people are with their gender or sexuality.
Is this a thing now? Why the need to label yourself. Also what would constitute a 3rd generation holocaust survivor in the first place? Would you need to be a "full blood", or would a partial descendent be sufficient?
