depends really with FC you will have the value of your car paid back to you minus excess if a crash is your fault. so if your car is worth next to nothing no point in having FC.

DOC cover is a different matter and depends upon your policy. different insurers have different rules + regs.

What car is it that you are insuring?

I worked it out and due to me being a young driver, if I had anything worth less than £1000, it wouldn't be worth me going full comprehensive due to the whopping excess the insurers whack on for the first few years.

As it happens, my car is worth £4k, so full comp was a no brainer.

I work on the basis that unless the car is worth more than about £3k, I won't insure it FC. Take into account the excess, then the inflated insurance premiums for up to 5 years following a claim, it probably wouldn't be worth it for me to claim on a FC policy.

EDIT

Fully comp? Are you kidding???

unless you need DOC cover then fully comp aint worth it at all, as your excess is the same as the car.

Also remember most insurance companies don't automatically include DOC cover any more. Even with FC policies.

F&F? Fast and furious insurance? Sounds amazing!

On a more serious note, that £150 extra will buy another Citroen AX, so completely pointless unless you actually intend to crash it.

Lots of companies do DOC cover on TPFT anyways, so FC is normally not worth it unless you have a car >£1k.

To the OP, go TPFT, and check with your insurer if you get DOC, then once the paperwork comes through, check it again to make sure you do (if they say you have it). My girlfriend was under the assumption that she had DOC, till she fully read her paperwork.

ok am sounding like a noob whats "DOC"??

Thats what you want, DOC allows you to drive other cars on your insurance policy.

If you want DOC, then ask for it, as a lot don't provide it automatically even on FC policies.

DOC is an acronym which I believe stands for "Drive Other Cars"

Just because you go fully comp doesn't mean you automatically get DOC.

Yup.

As I stated, my girlfriend thought she did (i'm sure she is on FC) and it turns out she doesn't...but then she's 20 with a claim and a conviction, so she's less likely to be allowed it anyways.

You can get it on TPFT with some companies, so get quotes online, then phone them up and speak to them about it.
