3x XFX 4890 Crossfire

Be a helluva lot cheaper to buy the 4870x2 for £235, and a single 4870 1gb for around £132, as it will just be the same, 3x 4870's in TriFire.

The 3rd card wouldn't be used much at 1920x res - its only really useful at resolutions above 2048x

If your determined to go 3way then you'd get much better mileage from tri-sli with 285GTX.

Otherwise imo stick to either 2x 260GTX or 2x 4890.

means that it won't add much more in terms of performaces than just normal crossfire

just like any tri crossfire/SLI solotuion its a mear brag factor

It won't scale well in most situations...for example 2 cards might give you approx. 80-95% the FPS of a single card depending on the situation....3 cards might give you 20-50% gain compared to 2 cards depending on the game/situation.

This is why multi-gpu setups are not always cost effective.

I would start with 2 4890s first.

I have a single 4890 and am more than happy, and my resolution is about 15% higher than yours.
