My insurance with Norwich Union ended a few months back, and due to their crazy renewal quote, I changed to Churchill.

My reneweal quote from Norwich Union stated the following:

30 months No Claims (which is equivilant to 3 years No Claims Discount)

The 30 months is due to 12 months from pass plus and 2 x 9 months through their accelerated bonus scheme.

After discussion with 3 different people at Churchill, they all agreed that 3 years no claims would be honoured. However i (stupidly) lost the renewal quote from Norwich Union, and all that Norwich Union will supply is a basic A4 headed sheet stating that I have 2 years no claims.

Churchill were extremely helpful in the matter, but were not willing to do anything without the written proof of 3 years as mentioned above, so in the end I paid the extra premium (around £120). They did however mention that if I found the form then this would be refunded and my policy updated to reflect 3 years.

I fully understand that in reality I do only have 2 years no claims, it's just annoying when I could easily be sat on 3, so my question is, can anyone think of any way in which I can get the extra year back?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew.

wow thats really sucky of Norwich Union, Admiral and stuff actually write the accelerated ncb in years so you can use it anywhere, probably a way for Norwich Union to try and get you to stay with them

Pass+ does not give you 1 years NCB. It just gives you a slight discount which could be up to 1 years NCB.

Depends on the insurer.

I was with CIS first. Come renewal , I had 2 years NCB (one for pass plus, one for the first year).

Having PP on my policy dropped it from £4400 to £2200.

How can you tell whether you got 1NCB for pass plus?

Can't you only use PP for the first year, so in essence you have two years with 1 yrs NCB?

I think it depends on the insurer, but after my first year with CIS, I got a 'Proof of NCB' certificate stating 2 years.

I always thought that Pass Plus was the equivalent of 1 years NCB. That's how I always understood it to be anyway.

pass plus doesnt mean anything, some insurers dont even recognise it.

i stayed away from accelerated schemes simply because of the hassle you have had.

pass plus being the equivilent to a years ncb is a totally new thing to me  I always thought it was just to show you had a little more experiencs/slighlty more advanced understanding of the road, lasts for two years btw
