4/5 Bay DAS Enclosure

Tricky one to place this thread...

I would appreciate any recomendation for the above please. Not looking to spend a fortune or I would go for something like a Terramaster or similar. So probably sub £200. Just a JBOD enclosure for backups only

Make you own using an old case and power supply ?

Should be able to put something together for under £50 based on getting a case, PSU and fans for free as I have seen people throwing these away on local FB groups. You would need HBA and cables like this, This one is internal so you would need to pass the cables out a spare slot at the back. You can get 1 to 4 SATA power adapter for around £7 ot £8 so two of those.

You can wire both PSU together, so the main PC power button operates both PSU.

That’s something I was considering. Smallish but neat was my aim but maybe a mini case might be handy. Need to check if there is anything similar to a SATA to USB adaptor/interface so I can run a single usb cable to my Mac

There are some USB options but mentions they don't work for things like trueNAS. For you MAC should be OK but obviously would have performance limitations compared to SAS.
